Little Lead People

Due to shift changes I suddenly had an unexpected day off work today so decided that, rather than spend the day mooching around, I'd get round to taking some pictures of the minis I finished last year but never got round to posting up here.

First up we have the Pulp City minis I finished:

Giant Hadron

Doom Train

Supreme Zed

Sister Bedlam

Tangent

Draku
And just in case you're wondering, Giant hadron stands at 120mm, here's a pic of him next to a normal 28mm mini:

As I mentioned in my last entry, Pulp Alley is fast becoming one of my favourite games to play, so naturally I have to dig out some old minis to paint up and play with:

These guys are all from Bob Murch's Pulp Figures store and the look is based on one of the groups encountered early on in Bioshock Infinite.

And finally, here are the 15mm minis I finished, all from Khurasan Miniatures:

Vacation Aliens

Space Demon Queen

Space Demons (painted as Royal Guard)

Space Demons (painted as Warriors)

Not Colonial Marines squad 1 (movie themed)

Not Colonial Marines squad 2 (alt)

Federation troopers
All really nice models, now I just need to paint up some vehicles for them and then try to actually play a game with them...

Anyway, I hope you like my offerings this update, I have a couple of weeks off coming my way soon and will hopefully have a project to share with you all during that time.

So, until then, take care.

Back on Track

Everything seems to be going moderately ok at the moment, and what with the nutty weather being actually rather pleasant in this neck of the woods for the last couple of days I've managed to get the latest Pulp City miniatures Dullcoted and photographed, I hope you like:
Gorgoroth, Taurus Captain from the Ulthar sub-faction

Le Multiple, the last of my A.R.C Supremes, (all three count as one for game purposes)

Xyllian, Master Sagittarius for the Ulthar

Shadowmask, the first of my Jade Cult Supremes

Sanguine, Necroplane's vampiric agent on Earth

Mourn, Necroplane's willing servant
With this batch I've finally completed the Ulthar and A.R.C. (until Red Bella & The Primates of Power are released), so at some point in the near future I will be taking group shots of both completed teams, I just want to work out the best way to do it as my current setup's not great for more than a few mini's at a time.

I'm hoping to complete Rich's next batch of Thousand Son's this week so hopefully I will have pictures of them and Charlie's Japanese land fleet for Dystopian Wars some time next weekend all things being even.

So until then, take care.

Real World Blues pt2

It seems like if it's not one thing it's another at the moment.  Just as my toes heal up I go and do something to my back that means I couldn't sit and paint or use a computer for longer than 10 minutes without being in excruciating pain.  Hopefully that's it now and I can actually get back to doing the things I want to, we shall see.

So, a little later than I wanted, here is the next set of Pulp City models I have completed:

Moonchild, a shapeshifter who can turn into...

Moon Coyote
Moonchild/Moon Coyote can be either Bloodwatch or Coven Supremes
Gemini X, who is the twin brother of...
Gemini Y
These two are Ulthar psychics
Ra'Leigh, Ulthar Aquarius Warlord, leader of the alien threat to Earth
Silverager, A.R.C. scientist and calming influence, just don't make him angry, you won't like him when he's angry!
Blood Rose, an alien from a destroyed universe who can teleport, a Bloodwatch member
Hellsmith, a minor deity reawakened to bring destruction to Pulp City
As well these Supremes I have also finished a number of tokens and minions for various characters:

Explosive markers for Dr. Red to lay down on his turn
Vector's Pixels finally finished along with...
Megapixel
Size comparison with their creator
Another size comparison

Since completing these I've also got another eight PC models finished, but I ran out of matte varnish so I'm going to have to wait till after the bank holiday before I pop down to my local hobbystore and pick up a new can.

I've also finished up Charlie's EoBS land fleet for Dystopian Wars and I'm making headway on Rich's Thousand Suns Warp Talons that I've had since before Christmas, though my back problems have meant I haven't got as far with them I would have liked, hopefully the coming week will see me get back on track with them.

So there will be a fair few updates coming in the near future (provided my, apparently, easily broken body behaving itself for a bit), so keep your eyes peeled.

'Til next time, take care.

More Tales From Pulp City

And finally the Pulp City post is here, first off the newest models in the collection:

First off we have Stinger, Scorpio Fencer.  He's the first of my Ulthar faction for the game and I want the colour scheme to run through all of the Ulthar miniatures.
This is one of my favourite models for the game, Loup Garou II, from the Covern faction.  I've wanted the model since I saw the artwork in the rulebook and I've pretty much stuck with the books colour scheme, I really like how he turned out.
And finally, another Ulthar, this time Stormnblades, Libra Sensei.  The skin was a pain to get right but I've finally got it right as far as I'm concerned.

I hope you like these guy's I have a fair few more to go yet.

Now, for the Supreme Edition test game.

Well it went really well, even if it was just a solo run through, it helped me get my head round the changes and I have to say I really enjoyed it, and I think the board will work well too, here are some pics from the game:

The initial set up, the board is a little sparse but I have a load of Copplestone Castings consoles to add to it.

The sides were Ace of Wraiths; Moonchild & Skyline for the Heroes and Guerilla; Chimp Chi & Howler for the Villains.
Chimp Chi got into a brawl with Skyline early and was KO'd in one hit so Howler went in for revenge using his Gun Bravardo Action and scoring a hit, not just on Skyline but also getting a 5 on his dice meant he triggered an SFX for which he chose Extra Target, hitting Ace as well.

Later in the game Ace fires off his Queen of Blood Action, sending out a pulse of energy that does a large chunk of damage to Guerilla.

And which KO's Howler.

Of course that just hacked Guerilla off so he Slammed into Ace throwing a handfull of dice and KOing him just to prove who was boss.

Finally, Moonchild and Guerilla went toe to toe, both close to their last health point.  Guerilla managed to just win the initiative and with his size giving him the advantage was able to KO her winning the day for A.R.C. (albeit a slightly pyrrhic victory).

I really liked the old rules, but these new ones are better IMO.  Yes, the Supreme's have lost some of their powers/abilities, but the core of who each one is is still there.  Resouces are gone, as are Universal Actions and Skills, now everything you need to know about the Supreme you're using is on their card, if it's not on there then they can't do it and everything you need to know about the Actions or Powers you have are explained right there on the card so no more looking in the rulebook to figure things out.

By turn 3 I only needed to occasionally glance at the QRS to know what I needed for the bulk of the rules, only looking at the rulebook to find out what a specific effects meant.

I'm really enthusiastic about this game, I have been since I saw the first Guerilla sculpt way back when and I immediately joined the forums, this new direction the games taking is one I was a little concerned about, but the team behind the rules have done a great job and I'm looking forward to demoing some games down at the club soon and hopefully converting more people to the cause.

Anyway, that's it for this post, more soon.

Take care.

A Welcome and a Whole bunch of Pictures

Long time no update, sorry about that, real life issues have kept me away.

Thankfully I have not been kept away from my minis though. But before I show you my latest pieces I'd like to welcome my latest follower, wardy-la, who almost has more blogs under his belt than I've updated this one all year, I salute you sir and I'll try and do better :)

Right, rambling done, now for my latest pieces. First up other people's bits:

Charlie's Kingdom of Britannia Fleet for Dystopian Wars.

Frigates

Cruisers

Battleship

Doncaster Bombers

Fighters

Less individuality than the Japanese fleet, partially because I found the model lent themselves to it less, plus the Brits have a more traditional approach to colour schemes (when I did a bit of research I discovered the Japanese had 5 shipyard building their vessels during WWII and the paint used in each was slightly different which I used as an excuse to give the somewhat varied look I did with their DW fleet).

Next up is the latest in Richard C's Thousand Sons and Devourer's of Vile-Tis minis.

In Rich's quest to have every CSM hero leading a unit of his Thousand Sons here's Khan the Betrayer in full livery.

Zeiren

Master of Carnage

Both of these guys have been almost done for about a year now and it's nice to finally get them completed, just five more to go .

Now onto my stuff, starting with the last of my Pulp City minis:

Twilight, from The Coven faction

Trail, Master of Mesmerism

Elder Grimm

First two minis have taken me ages to paint, just couldn't get a colour scheme I liked for either of them, still not entirely sure about Trail but at least he's done. The Grimm was a fun and quick job and I enjoyed doing it.

Next a random monster:

He's called a Warwolf, from the now defunct Ilyad Games.

And finally, with the recent arrival of a gentleman by the name of Ed to the club I actually have someone to play Malifaux against so I have begun to get my crews painted, starting with the leaders:

Perdita Ortega of the Guild.

Ramos, Arcanist.

And a reverse shot to see the cat's face (he's from the Victorian Bases-Accessories pack Wyrd do).

Dr Douglas McMourning, Resurrectionist.

I currently have the rest of McMourning's crew on the workbench along with some more of Charlie's DW mini's and a couple of Richard C's as well, so hopefully I'll have even more for you all sooner rather than later.

So 'til next time, take care.
