A Slow Start

Well I hope you all had a good New Year and all that, welcome to 2011 (however you may be pronouncing it).

My hobby life has started slowly this year with the first week and a bit devoted to clearing all the flat surfaces in my room of all the miniatures, scenic bits and various scratch building elements that had taken over the area over the last 6 months or so of last year, as well as that I reorganised my bookshelves so that I can actually find things now, which should help somewhat, and I also needed to replace a few paints and washes that had run out as well.

As for actual miniatures, no painting has been done to date, but I have got a lot of prep work done on the Devourers that I will be painting for Richard for the next 6 or so weeks. I've also undercoated some more Grymn models from Hasslefree as I need to get them painted for a 5150 campaign that Rich J is running at the club, (check out the campaign blog here).

I do have a picture for you as well, it's another miniature for Richard's forces:

He's from Kabuki Models' Dark Messiah range and he's a big ol' boy, but not as tricky to put together as I had at first feared. The only real problem I had was with the smaller of the 2 sets of arms, (the ones holding the halbardy weapon), as the shaft of the weapon had snapped off at the left hand, so a bit of delicate pinning was called for, but it all seemed to go well and he just needs a bit of Green Stuff in a couple of places and he's ready for undercoating.
As Richard wants to use him with his Devourers as well as as a Demon Prince in his 40k Thousand Sons army he's asked me to combine the colours I use for both armies when I paint him...which are Claret and Blue basically, so I'll have to be careful I don't make him look like he plays for West Ham, (I may not know much about Football, but I do know basic strip colours :).

So, that's all for now, if all goes well then I'll be getting the brushes out this week and I should have my first painted models of the year to show you next week.

Till next time.

J
