<br />
I've done the test paint on one of the terrain tiles, take a look:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g0QkUinQLSs/VOsVKA06E3I/AAAAAAAAA_U/Mw4p1qeNdfs/s1600/New23022015%2B001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g0QkUinQLSs/VOsVKA06E3I/AAAAAAAAA_U/Mw4p1qeNdfs/s1600/New23022015%2B001.JPG" height="150" width="200" /></a></div>
I'm really happy with the way it turned out, I was a little worried at first as when undercoating the ghost of the circular pieces that are on the reverse of the tile came through the paint, but after I started the highlight coats that went away.<br />
<br />
The yellow lines are more vibrant IRL, but other than that the colours in the picture are pretty much what you see. Although I'm trying to keep it as simple a paint job as possible I decided I wanted the tiles to look a little "lived in". The yellow lines were achieved with masking tape, masking fluid and an airbrush and came out really well I think. The dirt on the sides of the roads was achieved using weathering powders (my first attempt at using them), it took me a little longer that I wanted to get the effect I was looking for, but now I know how to do it the rest of the tiles should be a breeze.<br />
<br />
One final pic today, proving I was right about the Batman minis fitting the scale of the tiles better, Harley and Mr J were kind enough to help me test the theory:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0S0RCM4LkyA/VOsVKGg7AuI/AAAAAAAAA_Y/xyR0XizQ5ec/s1600/New23022015%2B002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0S0RCM4LkyA/VOsVKGg7AuI/AAAAAAAAA_Y/xyR0XizQ5ec/s1600/New23022015%2B002.JPG" height="150" width="200" /></a></div>
I still have to varnish it, but it's practically done, just another 23 to go...<br />
<br />
I hope you like it, C&C always welcome. <br />
<br />
'Til next time, take care<br />

<br />
On Wednesday 21st January a rather large parcel was delivered and as mentioned in my last blog post I thought I'd do a light review/first thoughts post.<br />
<br />
So, here's how it looks once out of the shipping box:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Each of the 24 tiles are in individual plastic bags and the smaller bag to the left of the tiles contains the connectors for holding tiles together whilst gaming.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Each tile is one foot square (12 inches/30 cm) and certainly seem durable.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here's a closer look at a couple of the straight sections: </div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">simply a question of pushing the connectors into place</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The connectors seem to hold the tiles well enough to withstand the usual gaming knocks, but don't hold it so strongly that it's impossible to remove them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, my thoughts. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
First the cons:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1 - Let's just talk about the honking great elephant in the room straight away, these suckers weren't cheap.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I ordered them during SWM's pre-christmas sale, but they were still $224.99 (£149.32), then you add the shipping charges. SWM pay the first $25 but that still left $64.08 (£42.60) and finally once they were in the UK I had to pay customs charges of £46.11 before they could be delivered. Which gives us a grand total of £238.03 (still only a little more expensive than GWs basic Sector Imperialis set though and for my purposes a lot more practical).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, not a purchase to make if they're only going to see action once in a blue moon. But as I mentioned in my first post of the year I have at least 5 games I intend to play that I will use them for, and quite frankly the cost just makes me want to get my money's worth out of them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2 - The road texture on some of the tiles (the 3 straights that have manholes on them, left hand tile in the comparison pic above, and the 2 individual straights) is a quite a bit lighter than the rest of the road sections. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3 - Scale wise the tiles feel aimed more toward the "heroic" side of the miniatures industry. By that I mean everything on them feels a little larger than life and the Hasslefree mini I used for scale seems a little dwarfed by it all, whereas I think the Batman Miniatures Game minis will fit quite nicely. Part of the issue is the pavement area, I think the massive slabs give an illusion of dwarfing a normal 28mm mini that if they'd gone with a paving stones texture wouldn't have been there, also the drop from the top of the pavement to the road is about 5mm and some of the ironworks are proud of the surface by a good 2mm (a blatant health & safety issue if I ever saw one). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now don't get me wrong, this isn't a massive problem for me, once there's more terrain and mini's on the board it won't be as noticeable and if the paving slabs bothered me that much an hour with a scriber and metal ruler would be all it would take to sort it out. Like I said this is just my initial reaction to seeing the tiles in the flesh for the first time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now the Pros:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1 - As I said, the tiles feel like they will put up with a lot of wear & tear and the connectors are a nice addition that remind me a little of the old Worldworks games Terrainlinx pieces which gives me quite a lot of confidence in them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2 - I could never build tiles that look this good, believe me I've tied. I'm unlikely to use them as a full 6'x4' board and the fact that I can build 2 or 3 smaller boards and have them all be different will make playing/demoing games like Pulp City and Pulp Alley at the club easier as I'll be able to have more games running at a time on decent looking terrain which IMO always helps.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3 - I can see a lot of potential layouts for them, some only coming to me after I saw them all in "the flesh" as it were. The non-road tiles in particular have sparked a number of ideas that I think would make interesting gaming areas and that's something that really makes me like these tiles a lot.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, overall I really like them, I may have a few gripes, but they're minor and nothing a little tinkering won't fix if it really bugs me. I'm also hoping that the extra space that is in the box means they'll do some expansions down the road, or at least release smaller sets of tiles, as there are a few ideas I've got that may need more of a certain type.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Since arriving I've managed to undercoat all the tiles and I'm currently in the process of test painting one of the straights to figure out how I want them to look, I'm hoping to have something to show you on that front in a few days.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, until then, take care.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YYiDCQza7yo/VL6QrQhG9JI/AAAAAAAAA9g/_KA-TehK5E4/s1600/New11012015%2B002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YYiDCQza7yo/VL6QrQhG9JI/AAAAAAAAA9g/_KA-TehK5E4/s1600/New11012015%2B002.JPG" height="138" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vFk7gAK0zaU/VL6QrVHz7eI/AAAAAAAAA9Y/2HbvYU9AQsE/s1600/New11012015%2B005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vFk7gAK0zaU/VL6QrVHz7eI/AAAAAAAAA9Y/2HbvYU9AQsE/s1600/New11012015%2B005.JPG" height="107" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uomzW4MwOas/VL6Qsf35ahI/AAAAAAAAA9k/BW6ZZjoJUxc/s1600/New11012015%2B006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uomzW4MwOas/VL6Qsf35ahI/AAAAAAAAA9k/BW6ZZjoJUxc/s1600/New11012015%2B006.JPG" height="163" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-medRVaHlKiI/VL6QtHThWQI/AAAAAAAAA9w/Ise_jwa6gjg/s1600/New11012015%2B008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-medRVaHlKiI/VL6QtHThWQI/AAAAAAAAA9w/Ise_jwa6gjg/s1600/New11012015%2B008.JPG" height="200" width="146" /></a></div>
<br />
Road signs are made from brass rod, styrene sheet and the printouts from Worldworks Games, the streetlamps are from Fenris games. The Billboard is the same as the road signs except the billboard itself is made using foamed PVC. The first two buildings are from Worldworks' original Streets of Mayhem range resized to a 6" footprint (originally it was 7") and pasted onto a foamcore shell, the final building is from WWG's Swiftscenics range and didn't need any resizing.<br />
<br />
My inspiration for some of the buildings is the Saints Row games (3 & 4 in particular) so I'll be doing some more stores from Steelport before I'm finished, I also have a fair few<span style="color: blue;"> </span><span style="background-color: blue;"><b><a href="http://www.wargamevault.com/browse/pub/4244/Stoelzels-Structures" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;"><span style="background-color: white;">Stoelzel's Structures</span></span><span style="background-color: white;"></span></a><span style="background-color: white;"> </span></b></span>buildings I'm planning to put together as well so there's plenty more to come.<br />
<br />
Until next time, take care.<br />

First up we have the Pulp City minis I finished:<br />

And just in case you're wondering, Giant hadron stands at 120mm, here's a pic of him next to a normal 28mm mini:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
As I mentioned in my last entry, Pulp Alley is fast becoming one of my favourite games to play, so naturally I have to dig out some old minis to paint up and play with:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jFdUZdeW6Uk/VLLBcmf2BoI/AAAAAAAAA8I/i5yo9VJ46Gg/s1600/New11012015%2B001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jFdUZdeW6Uk/VLLBcmf2BoI/AAAAAAAAA8I/i5yo9VJ46Gg/s1600/New11012015%2B001.JPG" height="113" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
These guys are all from Bob Murch's <span style="color: blue;"><b><a href="http://pulpfigures.com/" target="_blank">Pulp Figures</a></b></span> store and the look is based on one of the groups encountered early on in Bioshock Infinite.<br />
<br />
And finally, here are the 15mm minis I finished, all from Khurasan Miniatures:<br />

All really nice models, now I just need to paint up some vehicles for them and then try to actually play a game with them...<br />
<br />
Anyway, I hope you like my offerings this update, I have a couple of weeks off coming my way soon and will hopefully have a project to share with you all during that time.<br />
<br />
So, until then, take care.<br />

<br />
After my last post I did get more painted, all Pulp City related, I will post up photos here but for now head on over to my PC Forum post <span style="color: blue;"><b><a href="http://forum.pulp-city.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1159&start=75" target="_blank">here</a></b></span> and scroll down to the photos I put up there.<br />
<br />
I still have a bunch of 15mm sci-fi minis to photograph and show but that may take some time.<br />
<br />
On a positive note after 4 1/2 years of unemployment I'm now working again, unfortunately at the moment my hours don't give me a lot of painting time as I generally finish at 7pm get home, eat and then just want to crash, but I'm physically getting used to it now, so hopefully I will get back to some semblance of normality before too long.<br />
<br />
The biggest upside of the whole thing though is I finally have a steady income and can buy lots of things...which as all hobbyists know is both a blessing and a curse, but what the heck I've been frugal for long enough so decided to celebrate my first proper paycheck with some retail therapy.<br />
<br />
So winging their way to me I have a set of the awesome looking <span style="color: blue;"><b><a href="http://www.secretweaponminiatures.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=125_130&products_id=718" target="_blank">Urban Street Tablescape Tiles</a></b></span> from Secret Weapon Miniatures (expensive yes, particularly when you add shipping to the UK, but I've been trying to make my own city tiles for almost a year now and quite frankly it's driving me nuts, so I'm happy to pay the price for something that looks that good and will get a lot of use, more on that later).<br />
<br />
And I also have <span style="color: blue;"><b><a href="http://www.knightmodels.com/index.php/shop/show/viewproduct/clowns-complete-set/IdProduct/221" target="_blank">this little lot</a></b></span> heading to me from Knight Models' Batman Miniatures Game because, well just because really. I've wanted to get a Joker gang for BMG for a while, (I'm a massive fan of the Rocksteady Arkham games and at one point thought about doing a Joker themed Blackgate gang for Necromunda) so it seemed like a good idea.<br />
<br />
So in 2015 these are games I want to try out and play more of:<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><b>X Wing</b> - recently got into this as a LOT of the guys at my club play it so I know I'll always get a game.</li>
<li><b>Pulp City</b> - still an awesome game and with the Kickstarter stuff due and opponents ready to play I should get more than 1 or 2 games in this year.</li>
<li><b>Batman Miniatures Game</b> - will either have to convince someone to try it or just buy a second gang to lend someone but I hear good things and really want to give it a go.</li>
<li><b>Infinity</b> - with the new rules out it seems like a good time to get into this game, plus I've had a load of minis lying around for a while that I'd like to finally use.</li>
<li><b>All things Zombie (solo)</b> - been planing a solo ATZ campaign for a few years now, time to give it a whirl I think.</li>
<li><b>Pulp Alley</b> - in 2014 this gave Pulp City a run for it's money as my favourite game and I can't wait to play it more.</li>
<li><b>Super-hero Dinosaur Zombie Apocalypse</b> - why wouldn't I want to play a game with that title? Rules are being sorted and a number of nice looking miniatures have been released, <b><a href="http://www.nexus-miniatures.co.uk/" target="_blank">check out the website</a></b> and get a feel for the game. (I think I want to do a Jurassic Park Lost Worldesque group of Dino Hunters possibly using <span style="color: blue;"><b><a href="http://www.terragnosis.co.uk/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=73&zenid=7d2o0eb3nii3om15u36l0t8jm2" target="_blank">some of these vehicles</a></b></span> from Terranosis).</li>
<li><b>Beyond the Gates of Antares</b> - I really wasn't interested in this game, then <span style="color: blue;"><b><a href="http://store.warlordgames.com/collections/algoryn" target="_blank">Warlord brought out the Algoryn</a></b></span>...damn it, now I want to play. The Mass Effect Turian vibe is just too strong for me to resist, plus, <span style="color: blue;"><b><a href="http://store.warlordgames.com/collections/beyond-the-gates-of-antares/products/free-antares-public-beta-pdf-download" target="_blank">free rules</a></b></span> (albeit Beta ones) so why not?</li>
</ul>
Also, after 15 years of being out of it I seem to have accidentally picked up a load of Magic the Gathering cards (and by "accidentally" I mean I actively walked into a shop and said "I'd like to buy those Magic cards please!"), so that's something else I'll be looking to play as well :)<br />
<br />
So, most of the games I want to play can use the Tablescape tiles so I think the investment will be worth it and whilst I don't do resolutions I do intend to do what Wil Wheaton says and "Play More Games!" I hope you all will as well.<br />
<br />
I hope 2015 treats you all well and all your dice rolls succeed.<br />
<br />
Take Care<br />

<br />

<br />
But before I show those off I want to point people to the <a href="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/472543693/pulp-city-supreme-edition" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">Pulp City Kickstarter</span></a> which is going great guns at the moment, already funded and hitting stretch goals fairly regularly and there are still 11 days to go.<br />
<br />
If you want to see how it's all progressing you can go to <a href="http://www.kicktraq.com/projects/472543693/pulp-city-supreme-edition/" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">Kicktraq</span></a>, a site that shows the progress and stats for Kickstarter projects and you can see where it's at.<br />
<br />
And now onto the pictures, as I said last time in order to get into painting I started with a few simple miniatures to get back into it:<br />

<br />
And as well as them here are some of Richard's next batch of Thousand Sons, this time Warp Talons:<br />
<br />

<br />

<br />
But that was the year that was and I did get some new impetus at the end of November and December and have managed to do a bit more work on Richard & Charlie's minis, (my utmost apologies for the delay gents, but things are starting to look up), as well as 3 models that I did to try and get the hobby juices started again. I'll get pictures up of them soon.<br />
<br />
So what's in store for 2014?<br />
<br />
Well it's starting well, with the Pulp City Kickstarter due January 30th (check the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Pulp-City/89629698548?fref=ts" target="_blank">Facebook page</a> and the <a href="http://pulp-city.com/" target="_blank">Website</a> for more info and previews) I've been saving up & really hope everything goes well for the guys.<br />
<br />
For Christmas I got the <a href="http://pulpalley.com/" target="_blank">Pulp Alley</a> rules (from PA's uk supplier <a href="http://www.statuesqueminiatures.co.uk/c/4513058/1/pulp-alley.html" target="_blank">Statuesque Miniatures</a>), which prompted me to dig out the Pulp era mini's I have and at least think about getting them painted (which believe me is a BIG improvement on where I was for most of the back half of last year).<br />
<br />
The rules themselves look like a blast to play and I look forward to giving them a go.<br />
<br />
Other than that I'm hoping to finally get down to the club this year (I only managed it once last year, and that the the first week of January), I'm not really interested in the games that are being played at the moment (Dreadball, X-wing and Star Trek: Attack Wing mostly) but as I've barely left the house for most the last 10 months, just being mildly social will be something of a shock to the system I expect. And there's always the odd night where I can take something like Pulp City or Pulp Alley down and get some people to play.<br />
<br />
Come to think of it I've got an Ottoman Fleet for Dystopian Wars somewhere that I need to actually take out of the box and do something with at some point...<br />
<br />
So there's a few things on the horizon, hopefully I can get some photo's taken soon and then the next post will be more show than tell.<br />
<br />
Til next time.<br />
<br />
Take care <br />

With this batch I've finally completed the Ulthar and A.R.C. (until Red Bella & The Primates of Power are released), so at some point in the near future I will be taking group shots of both completed teams, I just want to work out the best way to do it as my current setup's not great for more than a few mini's at a time.<br />
<br />
I'm hoping to complete Rich's next batch of Thousand Son's this week so hopefully I will have pictures of them and Charlie's Japanese land fleet for Dystopian Wars some time next weekend all things being even.<br />

So until then, take care.<br />

<br />
Since completing these I've also got another eight PC models finished, but I ran out of matte varnish so I'm going to have to wait till after the bank holiday before I pop down to my local hobbystore and pick up a new can.<br />
<br />
I've also finished up Charlie's EoBS land fleet for Dystopian Wars and I'm making headway on Rich's Thousand Suns Warp Talons that I've had since before Christmas, though my back problems have meant I haven't got as far with them I would have liked, hopefully the coming week will see me get back on track with them.<br />
<br />
So there will be a fair few updates coming in the near future (provided my, apparently, easily broken body behaving itself for a bit), so keep your eyes peeled.<br />
<br />
'Til next time, take care.<br />

However they are almost healed and I can sit almost comfortably at my desk for long enough to type so I thought I'd throw up a quick update.<br />
<br />
For this one I have a few more Orc ships for Uncharted Seas to show off:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LwFGwPssQiY/UUWqw9guFBI/AAAAAAAAAxY/WFi0H29MqUg/s1600/New27012013+004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LwFGwPssQiY/UUWqw9guFBI/AAAAAAAAAxY/WFi0H29MqUg/s200/New27012013+004.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
The Slaughter class Flagship<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7FX96NVkf7E/UUWqy420-XI/AAAAAAAAAxg/6hXYjNj1h1A/s1600/New27012013+005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="93" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7FX96NVkf7E/UUWqy420-XI/AAAAAAAAAxg/6hXYjNj1h1A/s200/New27012013+005.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
Impaler class Destroyers, they have special rules for salvaging an repairing themselves so I tried to give the sails a repaired look to compliment the hulls.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
As with all the updated fleet models from Spartan Games, these are a big improvement on the old models and I really liked the painting process on them.<br />
<br />
I hope you like them.<br />
<br />
Next time out there will be a pretty big update with lots of Pulp City minis as Ive not only been comfort eating whilst my broken toes have been healing, but also comfort painting and PC minis have been my drug of choice. There will also be some more of Charlie and Richard's commissions coming soon, but I need the weather to sort itself out and give me a couple of dry days to get the varnishing done first.<br />
<br />
So until next time, take care.<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7C_gesofXHU/UQ60X_u27CI/AAAAAAAAAwA/BcG8JG9Un6g/s1600/New30122012+006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7C_gesofXHU/UQ60X_u27CI/AAAAAAAAAwA/BcG8JG9Un6g/s200/New30122012+006.JPG" width="175" /></a></div>
First off we have Stinger, Scorpio Fencer. He's the first of my Ulthar faction for the game and I want the colour scheme to run through all of the Ulthar miniatures.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-k-V1LfzBdTs/UQ60dRMgs3I/AAAAAAAAAwI/d6OMFXOMWOU/s1600/New30122012+007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-k-V1LfzBdTs/UQ60dRMgs3I/AAAAAAAAAwI/d6OMFXOMWOU/s200/New30122012+007.JPG" width="175" /></a></div>
This is one of my favourite models for the game, Loup Garou II, from the Covern faction. I've wanted the model since I saw the artwork in the rulebook and I've pretty much stuck with the books colour scheme, I really like how he turned out.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-taQWCAeiBWk/UQ60gx2jd8I/AAAAAAAAAwQ/YPXnNGl5gvs/s1600/New27012013+002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-taQWCAeiBWk/UQ60gx2jd8I/AAAAAAAAAwQ/YPXnNGl5gvs/s200/New27012013+002.JPG" width="175" /></a></div>
And finally, another Ulthar, this time Stormnblades, Libra Sensei. The skin was a pain to get right but I've finally got it right as far as I'm concerned.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I hope you like these guy's I have a fair few more to go yet.<br />
<br />
Now, for the Supreme Edition test game.<br />
<br />
Well it went really well, even if it was just a solo run through, it helped me get my head round the changes and I have to say I really enjoyed it, and I think the board will work well too, here are some pics from the game:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-W1gR_tdDmO4/UQ63Kf9r0NI/AAAAAAAAAwg/kxHI-2Q8vKo/s1600/New03022013+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-W1gR_tdDmO4/UQ63Kf9r0NI/AAAAAAAAAwg/kxHI-2Q8vKo/s200/New03022013+001.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
The initial set up, the board is a little sparse but I have a load of Copplestone Castings consoles to add to it.<br />
<br />
The sides were Ace of Wraiths; Moonchild & Skyline for the Heroes and Guerilla; Chimp Chi & Howler for the Villains.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6bpro6aCaCw/UQ63Keu6cCI/AAAAAAAAAwc/CSPGMu4QSS8/s1600/New03022013+006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6bpro6aCaCw/UQ63Keu6cCI/AAAAAAAAAwc/CSPGMu4QSS8/s200/New03022013+006.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
Chimp Chi got into a brawl with Skyline early and was KO'd in one hit so Howler went in for revenge using his Gun Bravardo Action and scoring a hit, not just on Skyline but also getting a 5 on his dice meant he triggered an SFX for which he chose Extra Target, hitting Ace as well. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Czs_lHyd69s/UQ63KEQdAjI/AAAAAAAAAwY/5VWArxeP1dg/s1600/New03022013+008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Czs_lHyd69s/UQ63KEQdAjI/AAAAAAAAAwY/5VWArxeP1dg/s200/New03022013+008.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
Later in the game Ace fires off his Queen of Blood Action, sending out a pulse of energy that does a large chunk of damage to Guerilla.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5zrKcaoKvMk/UQ63KofuuoI/AAAAAAAAAws/jRFJvsuaIgQ/s1600/New03022013+009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5zrKcaoKvMk/UQ63KofuuoI/AAAAAAAAAws/jRFJvsuaIgQ/s200/New03022013+009.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
And which KO's Howler.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VCp4zFDZaEg/UQ63LANV4XI/AAAAAAAAAww/aGVYr3M3AFk/s1600/New03022013+010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VCp4zFDZaEg/UQ63LANV4XI/AAAAAAAAAww/aGVYr3M3AFk/s200/New03022013+010.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
Of course that just hacked Guerilla off so he Slammed into Ace throwing a handfull of dice and KOing him just to prove who was boss.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

Finally, Moonchild and Guerilla went toe to toe, both close to their last health point. Guerilla managed to just win the initiative and with his size giving him the advantage was able to KO her winning the day for A.R.C. (albeit a slightly pyrrhic victory).<br />

<br />
<br />
I really liked the old rules, but these new ones are better IMO. Yes, the Supreme's have lost some of their powers/abilities, but the core of who each one is is still there. Resouces are gone, as are Universal Actions and Skills, now everything you need to know about the Supreme you're using is on their card, if it's not on there then they can't do it and everything you need to know about the Actions or Powers you have are explained right there on the card so no more looking in the rulebook to figure things out.<br />
<br />
By turn 3 I only needed to occasionally glance at the QRS to know what I needed for the bulk of the rules, only looking at the rulebook to find out what a specific effects meant.<br />
<br />
I'm really enthusiastic about this game, I have been since I saw the first Guerilla sculpt way back when and I immediately joined the forums, this new direction the games taking is one I was a little concerned about, but the team behind the rules have done a great job and I'm looking forward to demoing some games down at the club soon and hopefully converting more people to the cause.<br />
<br />
Anyway, that's it for this post, more soon.<br />
<br />
Take care.<br />

So welcome to the blog darth tater, Alex Hood and Sidewinder, I hope you like what you see.<br />
<br />
Don't worry folks, I haven't forgotten about the Pulp City post, but I've been a little distracted by the fact that the new Supreme Edition open beta is now up over at<a href="http://pulp-city.com/" target="_blank"> Pulp-City.com</a> and I'm going to give the new rules a try out a little later along with the new board I'm working on to see how it's all coming together and see what it's like to play on.<br />
<br />
Hopefully I'll post up the results either tonight or tomorrow at the latest.<br />
<br />
So until then, take care.<br />

Sorry for the short
interruption to my attempt at regular blogging, it would appear real
life hasn't completely done with me yet and for the last couple of
weeks my dad's been very unwell so I've been helping mum keep an eye
on him which has cut down on my hobby time a little.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Coupled with the snow
and freezing temperatures I haven't got as much done as I'd have
liked, but I didn't let that stop me completely and with the milder
weather this weekend I've managed to get a few more models varnished
and ready to show off.</div>

For today’s post I'm
going to show off some of my Antenocitie's Workshop <a href="http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/governance-of-technology.html" target="_blank">Governance of Technology</a> figures which were one of my “magpie” buys when they
were released a couple of years ago and ended up sitting in my lead
& plastic pile gathering dust ever since.</div>

<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
I hope you like them. </div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
My plan for these is to
use them for 7TV casts when I get a few more painted up. I'm thinking
some kind of Modesty Blaze meets Deus Ex/Ghost in the Shell type show
at the moment, though I've not managed to completely formulate
anything definite yet.
<br />
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
The look for the police
officers and car were based on <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106697/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1" target="_blank">Demolition Man</a> and whilst I'm not
entirely happy with the freehand lettering on the cruiser doors it's
a lot better than I was expecting so I'll take it for now.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
The other two are from
the Wales and West Security pack and I wanted an Anime feel to them
which I think I managed.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
The clear bases are
from Fenris and are how I intend to base as much of my 7TV models as
possible, I think they work well and I have to say, not having to
paint the bases was a nice change.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
So that's it for this
post, I still have more to show, but as life keeps throwing me curve
balls I'll keep them back so I can actually post stuff up more
regularly. Next up will be some new Pulp City minis as I try not to
get too excited over the upcoming open beta for the new Supreme Edition
of the rules, (I'm going to fail on that one btw, I've already got a
full team background worked out for trying out the Build Your Own
Supreme section and a shed load of terrain pieces to paint up for a
new board I'm putting together, but I can pretend ;) you can check
out some of the changes and hints at what is to come in the Editorial
Eye section of the <a href="http://pulp-city.com/" target="_blank">Pulp City</a> website, it's well worth a look.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
So until next time,
take care.</div>

<br />
This whole "going with the flow" thing is all well and good, but I think a little planning might help out in the long haul...if only for storage purposes :)<br />
<br />
Will sort everything out and work out some priorities.<br />
<br />
Next post I'll try and have something to show.<br />
<br />
'Til then, take care.<br />

<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
So, unless you're
triskaidekaphobic, (which admittedly I am slightly), this new year is
something to look froward to.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br />
</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
2012 didn't exactly go
as planned on the painting front, the last three months in particular
were quite bare as real life focused me elsewhere, so now it's time
to look forward.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br />
</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Usually this is the post where I lay out my plans and goals for the year ahead.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
So how many plans do I
have for the coming year?</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br />
</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Answer: None, zip, zilch, nada.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br />
</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
To paraphrase Mark
Twain I've paved too much of Hell with my good intentions over the
years always ignoring my one fatal flaw, I'm a miniature magpie. Any
shiny new mini that appeals to me is invariably bought and joins the
ever increasing pile of lead and plastic in my wardrobe, under my bed
or in the loft. If I have a bad day, or week, or month I will
invariably turn to one of the projects that have been in the back of
my mind for years, or get caught up in an amazing new project that's just
come into my head to take my mind off of things, only for it to be
dropped two weeks later because my attention's been grabbed by the
next new thing.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br />
</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
They say the first step
in dealing with a problem is to admit you have one, and I do have a problem. I love
the thrill of starting a new project, the planning and prep are the
parts I really enjoy. I also enjoy having newly painted models to
show off to the world and play with...it's just that pesky bit in the
middle where you actually do all the work that I have a problem with,
that's the point I'm at my most vulnerable to new and shiny models
and games.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br />
</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
I've lost track of the
number of times I've started a project with such great enthusiasm
only to find after a week or so I'm looking for that next hit of
something new and end up putting it aside “just for a bit” whilst I
start something else that's just caught my eye or come to mind.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br />
</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
So this year there are
no plans, only ideas and possibilities, otherwise I'm just going to
go with the flow and see where the hobby takes me. I'm also going to
stop with the painting points, I paint because I enjoy it, I don't
need to know how much I've painted over the year, just that I am
painting.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br />
</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
So, there you go,
that's what I've decided for the year ahead as far as personal
projects are concerned. I still have a number of commission pieces
to do for Rich and Charlie, and possibly a new commission later in
the year, (so long as I pull my finger out and finish the other stuff
before March).</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br />
</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Keep an eye on the
blog, I may even try to update more regularly again.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br />
</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
So till next time, take
care.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br />
</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">

Here we are as promised
with the Uncharted Seas minis.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
For those of you with
long memories I got into Uncharted Seas when it first came out and I
got the original Orc box set when it was released. We all enjoyed
the game at the club and I ran a big league a couple of years ago,
then things quietened down and my models ended up in the loft where
they sat until I saw Spartan were bringing out a hardback rulebook
and as I hadn't picked up the 2nd edition softcover I
decided to pick it up and expand my force.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
However my original Orc
fleet was the old, hand sculpted style and Spartan had since moved
over to computer designed models and re-released the whole range and
I <i>REALLY</i> liked the new models. But I thought “you know what I'll
just get the new models for the ships I don't have and nothing else”.
That's when I remembered I'd based all my original models on
plasticard with sculpted greentuff waves. Well after an evening of
trying to replicate the effect on one of the old models I hadn't got
round to completing the first time out I realised I was going to go
nuts doing it with all the models and I'd never get anything done,
plus I<i> REALLY</i> liked the new models...</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
So I ended up replacing
everything I had with the new versions and I have to say I'm very
glad I did, the computer design is superb and a whole level above the
old stuff.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
So, without further
ado, here's my new, old fleet:</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

First up I'd like to
extend a very belated welcome to my newest followers, Christopher and
Brummie, thank you for showing an interest in my mini dabblings.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Next I'd like to
apologise to everyone for the lack of updates for the past three
months. Unfortunately real life has not been kind and at the
beginning of December, following a brief illness, we had a death in
the family that came as a complete shock to all of us.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
The whole thing has
knocked me sideways, particularly considering the time of year, and
quite frankly my priorities have not included much hobby related
stuff, although in the brief moments when I've found a little piece a
few bits and bobs have been done or started.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Anyway, rather than
this post becoming maudlin I'd like to assure everyone that, whilst
not at my best, my love of the hobby is still strong and I am picking
myself up, dusting myself off and getting back in the saddle, (and
mixing my metaphors apparently), and have a few ideas in the pipeline
for the coming year.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
First up though,
hopefully tomorrow, I'll finally post up the Uncharted Seas pics that
have been sitting in my camera for the past couple of months,
possibly along with a couple of new Pulp City minis, though they may
get their own post a day or so later, I haven't decided yet.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
So until then, take
care.</div>
<div class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>

<br />
First up a little background to the game for those that don't know.<br />
<br />
Set in 1888, it is a Victorian Science Fiction, (or Steampunk if you must), skirmish game with supernatural overtones. The discovery of a new element, <i>Infernium</i>, has advanced Victorian science in leaps and bounds in a very short space of time, but it has also awakened the worst in human nature as well as drawn the attention of other, darker forces.<br />
<br />
If you've ever played Mordheim or Necromunda then learning EotD will be easy as the game runs along similar lines with some nifty tweeks here and there to add some nice flavor, and as with both the aforementioned games there is a nice campaign/advancement system built into the rules as well.<br />
<br />
For the starting forces I wanted a couple to take to the club with me to demo for people and decided upon The Brotherhood, members of the Holy Orders sworn to protect humanity from evil, and Nosferatu, out looking for new victim to drain the life-blood out of.<br />
<br />
Both the games I've played so far went well with myself and my opponents coming away having had fun games, I'd definitely like to play a campaign though as I think that is where the game will really come into it's own. <br />
<br />
As for the models, first up are the Nosferatu:<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-j6Ul_02l9UU/UGh6MCbTrxI/AAAAAAAAAso/vSs9Uy9otwI/s1600/New30092012+022.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="140" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-j6Ul_02l9UU/UGh6MCbTrxI/AAAAAAAAAso/vSs9Uy9otwI/s200/New30092012+022.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
And finally, I have also painted up the limited edition edition miniature I got with the rules:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6qmznAMk_KI/UGh79cRK6xI/AAAAAAAAAs8/j6TU6rQA4kk/s1600/New30092012+002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6qmznAMk_KI/UGh79cRK6xI/AAAAAAAAAs8/j6TU6rQA4kk/s200/New30092012+002.JPG" width="175" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
All the paint jobs were kept pretty simple for the sake of speed as at the time I was really struggling to concentrate for very long at the painting table, but these guys really helped me get back into the swing of things with both the starter boxes taking me one week to paint each group of 8 miniatures.<br />
<br />
The cobblestone bases are from <a href="http://www.fenrisgames.com/" target="_blank">Fenris Games</a>.<br />
<br />
Anyway, I hope you like the models.<br />
<br />
Hopefully more miniatures soon, so until then take care.<br />

<br />
Up first is the Forgeworld model Lugft Huron:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gbvDiVPkDNU/UFnORQn3VsI/AAAAAAAAApE/2ca2pNHRQOo/s1600/New16092012+008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gbvDiVPkDNU/UFnORQn3VsI/AAAAAAAAApE/2ca2pNHRQOo/s200/New16092012+008.JPG" width="133" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--_32KNoe9tU/UFnOR5yPNuI/AAAAAAAAApI/98U7k4Woo9o/s1600/New16092012+009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--_32KNoe9tU/UFnOR5yPNuI/AAAAAAAAApI/98U7k4Woo9o/s200/New16092012+009.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
For the banner I've placed the name Rich has given him, (Ini-Herit), at the top. The character is going to be used as the standard bearer for his 1st company, <i>The Fellowship of the Scarab</i>, and the closest ancient Egyptian word I could find with my Google-fu was Sen, which means brother, so Sen-Scarab means Brother Scarab which seems like a good choice and it fit the available space nicely.<br />
<br />
Up next is Typhus:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XB0567aPzd4/UFnR9wEB6RI/AAAAAAAAApg/4czuKCLFnmk/s1600/New16092012+011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XB0567aPzd4/UFnR9wEB6RI/AAAAAAAAApg/4czuKCLFnmk/s200/New16092012+011.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_Z9w5_NyKVM/UFnR--Q4gkI/AAAAAAAAApk/sLBhzo5hiuY/s1600/New16092012+012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_Z9w5_NyKVM/UFnR--Q4gkI/AAAAAAAAApk/sLBhzo5hiuY/s200/New16092012+012.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
My favourite model of the four, he came out almost exactly how I saw him in my head as I was prepping him.<br />
<br />
Lucius the Eternal is next:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ub36muC873g/UFnTCkc1vQI/AAAAAAAAApw/07UEP5o27Gw/s1600/New16092012+013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="166" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ub36muC873g/UFnTCkc1vQI/AAAAAAAAApw/07UEP5o27Gw/s200/New16092012+013.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Rich got this guy on ebay, and unfortunately the person sending it just put him in a jiffy bag to send and during transit the metal whip got bent back on itself, when I tried to straighten it out it snapped in half. So as a replacement I've used a plastic whip from the Dark Elder Kabalite Warriors sprue. The exposure on the picture is a little light but I think it came out looking good and think it looks the part.<br />
<br />
And finally is Fabius Bile:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3ISOW0vDpXs/UFnVD3O5CnI/AAAAAAAAAp4/Bk7Ebx_MErM/s1600/New16092012+014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3ISOW0vDpXs/UFnVD3O5CnI/AAAAAAAAAp4/Bk7Ebx_MErM/s200/New16092012+014.JPG" width="160" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I like how he turned out, but he was a royal pain to paint. There's so much going on with the model that every time I looked him over I'd find another small part I'd missed. Once I'd finished him though he came out well.<br />
<br />
I hope you like them all, next time out it'll either be <i>Uncharted Seas</i> or <i>Empire of the Dead</i>, whichever one I can get photographed first.<br />
<br />
Take Care<br />
<br />

It was due to a few things, lack of motivation, an inability to focus on painting for longer than 10 minutes at any one time, government sponsored training courses and nothing really to show or talk about being the main culprits.<br />
<br />
Thankfully I've broken through to the other side now, mainly thanks to Spartan Games' <i>Uncharted Seas</i> and Westwind's<i> Empire of the Dead</i> game which got me able to focus on painting again, but more on them at a later date.<br />
<br />
Right now I have a slew of models painted and I'll be showing them off over the next week or so and I thought I'd start with the last of Charlie's Dystopian Wars EoBS ships that I had to paint along side the Ika I posted last time.<br />
<br />
First up is the Tenkei Class Sky Fortress:<br />
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YTGrVVVR1M8/UFWv8JbqxbI/AAAAAAAAAoE/xZAIWfdDoGs/s1600/New16092012+003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="166" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YTGrVVVR1M8/UFWv8JbqxbI/AAAAAAAAAoE/xZAIWfdDoGs/s200/New16092012+003.JPG" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Sky Fortress plus flight of planes</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rUNG3x4F8dU/UFWv85BKpeI/AAAAAAAAAoI/voq55sCUyRo/s1600/New16092012+004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="166" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rUNG3x4F8dU/UFWv85BKpeI/AAAAAAAAAoI/voq55sCUyRo/s200/New16092012+004.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
A bit of a botched casting meant I had to do a fair bit of prep work before I started painting as the top and bottom of the craft were out of alignment, I had to do a lot of filing as well as fill in grooves that didn't meet and re-carve new ones. In the end it's not too bad, I did have to get rid of a lot of the rivets on the model though which was a shame, but over all I'm ok with how it came out.<br />
<br />
The deck is based of actual WWII Japanese aircraft carriers, with a bit of artistic license thrown in and I'm really happy with how it turned out and think it makes the model look the part.<br />
<br />
And finally the Hachiman Class Dreadnought:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-L4payUjxH2U/UFWzncZzPcI/AAAAAAAAAog/CZGQm2KYk1Y/s1600/New16092012+005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="113" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-L4payUjxH2U/UFWzncZzPcI/AAAAAAAAAog/CZGQm2KYk1Y/s200/New16092012+005.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QI4D3PJPYEE/UFWzn9ZIpeI/AAAAAAAAAok/W_-WoPuKXX0/s1600/New16092012+006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="113" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QI4D3PJPYEE/UFWzn9ZIpeI/AAAAAAAAAok/W_-WoPuKXX0/s200/New16092012+006.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k2g4OGRWp0U/UFWzoWBeSKI/AAAAAAAAAos/25WgxDpwfd4/s1600/New16092012+007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="113" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k2g4OGRWp0U/UFWzoWBeSKI/AAAAAAAAAos/25WgxDpwfd4/s200/New16092012+007.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
This ship is ridiculously big, similar in length to the battleship but twice as tall, she's a big model compared to the rest of the ships in the fleet but really straight forward to paint (you just need a LOT of paint).<br />
<br />
The 2 types of shield generators as seen in the above pictures are a much easier fit than on the battleship, Spartan have obviously learnt their lesson there thankfully.<br />
<br />
I like how both have come out, and Charlie was pleased with them when I handed them over which is the important thing, I hope you like them as well.<br />
<br />
Next time out I have the latest batch of Richard's Chaos Marine characters painted up a Thousand Sons, so keep an eye out around Wednesday for them to appear.<br />
<br />
Take care and I'll speak to you all then.<br />

<br />
I've managed to get another of Charlie's Dystopian Wars Japanese fleet models finished, this time it's the Mechanical Ika.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QVQ0fkAxAAc/T6pK3tJ76eI/AAAAAAAAAnc/XSAHNkmURsU/s1600/New09052012+009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="93" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QVQ0fkAxAAc/T6pK3tJ76eI/AAAAAAAAAnc/XSAHNkmURsU/s200/New09052012+009.JPG" width="200" /></a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-93QGwOLbFYE/T6pK4IiN6KI/AAAAAAAAAng/gi5ua12MPAI/s1600/New09052012+010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="93" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-93QGwOLbFYE/T6pK4IiN6KI/AAAAAAAAAng/gi5ua12MPAI/s200/New09052012+010.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c7AXyECCT80/T6pK5e7N3FI/AAAAAAAAAnw/ZXAmg1tq9Eo/s1600/New09052012+012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="93" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c7AXyECCT80/T6pK5e7N3FI/AAAAAAAAAnw/ZXAmg1tq9Eo/s200/New09052012+012.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-T2mOR9Lv0wY/T6pK4rUpMDI/AAAAAAAAAns/n0aiFudXec0/s1600/New09052012+011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="122" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-T2mOR9Lv0wY/T6pK4rUpMDI/AAAAAAAAAns/n0aiFudXec0/s200/New09052012+011.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
The submerged version at the top was a simple enough paint job, the full tentacled version was a little more hassle and it took me a couple of goes at the wave effect on the bases before I was happy with the result, but I'm really happy with them both now.<br />
<br />
I hope you like.<br />
<br />
The weather is supposed to be better at the weekend so I may get some more stuff done then, but I'm not going to promise anything as the muse is still being somewhat fickle when it comes to painting at the moment.<br />
<br />
Anyway, 'til next time.<br />
<br />
Take care.<br />

<br />
It's been a bit of a topsy-turvy week with me being very discombobulated for most of it due to reasons I'm not going to go into here. <br />
<br />
But I did get a little varnishing done in the brief period of sunshine we had so you can expect a proper update of the blog as soon as I can get some pictures taken and edited, hopefully before, or around, Wednesday.<br />
<br />
I've also started (technically re-started I guess) a project that I hope to get through relatively fast so keep an eye out for that too.<br />
<br />
So until next time.<br />
<br />
Take Care<br />
